What's In An Instrument Panel?

Most of us drive every day, but do not pay attention to indicators of our car. We all look at the speed in an attempt not to have stopped, but sometimes this is not enough to prevent a pretty pink ticket.

We should pay more attention to some other indicators of our cars for very good reasons. The reason is simple. They are there to warn us of the status of the car that we drive on the road. Cars can be measured in our warning that something is wrong with the car before any breakage.

However, many vehicles today have not much in the way of "templates" as a gauge of speed and gas (which are the only ones who pay most of the people all the attention) but rather to have "lights". When manufacturers have discovered that the average driver in today's world has never looked the other sizes, and have not been informed of what they hear anyway, they decided to do something who would do better to attract the attention of the driver. Attention replaced the traditional lights and gauges have been a better way to get drivers attention (in most cases) when there was a problem.

If you are lucky and have a car that still has gauges, you should pay attention to them. The gauge temperature of the water is there so you know when things are heating so that you can ensure that the car is not too hot. Overheating of a car is a particular problem in the summer heat. The average car is running normally between 200-210 degrees Fahrenheit. If you see water temperatures creeping above that, you should pay close attention and stop the vehicle if it continues to climb, otherwise you will be on the side of the road with a band out of steam and you may be the ruin of large parts of the engine of your car.

The oil pressure gauge is another class found in a group of instruments. This reading of the gauge pressure (or force) of oil in the engine. It is important to know, because a loss of oil pressure usually large problems are imminent if you continue to drive the car. This loss of pressure, whatever the cause, means that the engine parts that need lubrication when running may not do so. If you do not stop the car and turn it off, you can break something inside that can be real expensive to repair or replace.

RPM on the dashboard is a gauge called a tachometer. RPM say revolutions per minute that the crankshaft of the engine is running. It is important to know because the more the RPM, the faster everything is running. The earliest coins turn, it is most difficult for them to be sufficiently lubricated to counter the heat generated in the motion. This, in turn, may mean a broken engine or at least that does not last long. Street cars and trucks in general between 2000-3000 rpm, while driving on the road, and even less when they are idling in the driveway. For some reference point, compare it to a NASCAR race car, which takes place around 8000-9000 rpm and Indy cars, which run between 12,000-13,000 RPM.

A less common gauge in the car is the oil temperature gauge. While the oil pressure and water temperature are more important, the oil temperature may also indicate a potential difficulty. If the oil is too hot in the engine, then oil will deteriorate, making it lose its lubricating ability. Lubrication of the engine, it is crucial to run, when it fails can mean big problems and, possibly, destroy a motor. Generally most cars that have gauges are not a gauge oil temperature as the water temperature warms up before the oil, so if you see the water temperature gets too hot, stop, the oil temperature should never be a problem.

The dashboards of our cars are becoming something that people should pay attention to. If you have gauges, you must learn what it really means to each class and pay attention. However, many cars today have lights instead of gauges. In my humble opinion, hazard lights on your dashboard of cars are usually too late. Speaking as someone who understands and prefers gauges, you must understand that if the light comes on your dashboard, you're already in the area and the difficulty to park the car very quickly.
